9 Days Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Trekking

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive in Moshi, the gateway to Kilimanjaro, and transfer to your hotel. Meet your guide for a briefing and equipment check, then relax and prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 2: Lemosho Gate to Big Tree Camp

Drive to the Lemosho Gate and begin your trek through lush rainforest. Ascend steadily, enjoying sightings of monkeys and exotic birdlife. Reach Big Tree Camp for your first night on the mountain.

Day 3: Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Continue your ascent through the rainforest, emerging into the heath and moorland zone. Trek across the Shira Plateau, with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Arrive at Shira 1 Camp and rest for the night.

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Hike towards the towering peak of Kilimanjaro, passing through alpine desert terrain. Marvel at the vastness of the landscape and the ever-changing scenery. Arrive at Shira 2 Camp, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

Trek to Lava Tower, reaching an altitude of 4,600 meters (15,092 feet) for acclimatization. Descend to Barranco Camp, traversing the scenic Barranco Wall. Enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and glaciers.

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Navigate through the Karanga Valley, crossing rocky terrain and boulder fields. Ascend to Karanga Camp, nestled beneath the southern glaciers of Kilimanjaro. Rest and prepare for the final push to the summit.

Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Continue your ascent towards Barafu Camp, the base for your summit attempt. Trek across rugged terrain, gaining altitude as you approach the summit. Rest and refuel at Barafu Camp before the summit bid.

Day 8: Summit Day – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Begin your summit attempt in the early hours of the morning, trekking under the starlit sky. Reach Stella Point at the crater rim, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Departure

Descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. Bid farewell to Kilimanjaro as you transfer back to Moshi for celebrations and reflections on your incredible journey.
