Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Arrive in Moshi, the gateway to Kilimanjaro, and transfer to your hotel for a briefing and preparation for the trek. Spend the evening resting and acclimatizing to the altitude.
Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Begin your trek at the Marangu Gate, where you’ll register with park authorities and meet your experienced guides and porters. Hike through lush rainforest, spotting monkeys and exotic birdlife, to reach Mandara Hut (2,700 meters) for your overnight stay.
Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Continue your ascent through the rainforest, emerging into the heath and moorland zone. Trek across open grasslands with stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s peaks before reaching Horombo Hut (3,720 meters), where you’ll spend the night.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
Take a well-deserved rest day at Horombo Hut to acclimatize to the altitude. You can choose to explore the surrounding area, hike to Zebra Rock, or simply relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountain.
Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Resume your trek, ascending to Kibo Hut (4,703 meters) through the alpine desert zone. Pass by the “Last Water Point” and the Saddle, a lunar-like landscape between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon and prepare for your summit attempt.
Day 6: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak and Descent to Marangu Gate
Begin your summit bid in the early hours of the morning, ascending steeply to Gilman’s Point (5,681 meters) on the crater rim. From there, continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa, to witness a spectacular sunrise.
After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved meal and overnight stay.
Day 7: Descent to Marangu Gate and Departure
Descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates and bid farewell to your guides and porters. Transfer back to Moshi for a celebratory dinner and overnight stay, marking the end of your unforgettable Kilimanjaro trekking adventure.
